Erica’s Fav Things: Fit Momma

Fit Momma

For many women, being healthy and taking care of ourselves is something that we learned later in life.  Lots of us weren’t taught about the importance of health and fitness when we were young, and sometimes it can feel like we have to ‘force’ ourselves to stay in shape now.

Especially once we become Moms!

The first time we get pregnant, it’s almost shocking how much our bodies change.  This is exactly when it becomes both really important and really difficult to keep up a good fitness routine.

Having the right tools for your workout will make sure you enjoy staying in shape – there’s nothing worse than clothes that don’t fit or equipment that doesn’t get the job done!  It’s just setting you up to make excuses.

These are my fav Fit Momma accessories:

The best way to stay on top of fitness is to take your baby with you.  I LOVE this BOB Revolution stroller for walking, jogging, even everyday adventures. It has a swivel wheel, making it easy to maneuver around and a lock to keep it in place (though I usually prefer to keep it swiveling).  There’s plenty of storage underneath and a console by the handle for keeping your keys, water and whatever else you need.  And it has a car seat attachment so it’s super easy to pop the baby carrier in and out…so versatile!

BOB Revolution SE $449

This stroller is a little bit bigger than a typical walking stroller, but I find that it folds up really easily and works perfect for my very active family.  I use it all the time.

The right attire – I love the Every Yogi tank and Groove pant from Lululemon.

Fit Momma

Lululemon Every Yogi Tank $42, Groove Pant $98

The tank fits a little loose so you can easily move around, and there is no built-in bra which allows you to wear whichever bra you need right now.  If you’re nursing, make sure you wear a bra with extra support!  I also like that this top is a little longer than most, so it won’t creep up on you.

The pants are stretchy and super comfortable.  The waistband won’t dig into your belly and they just fit nicely all around.

Stay Hydrated – I prefer the BPA-free LifeFactory water bottles.  These are glass bottles, which is safer you and keeps your water fresh (instead of those nasty plastic ones that make water taste gross like, well, plastic).  These are covered in a silicone sleeve so they are easy to grab and they look cute too.

LifeFactory Water Bottle 16oz $22.99

The last (and maybe most important thing to keep you motivated) ‘accessory’ is good music!  Make a playlist for your iPhone or iPod that will keep you moving.

Some of my favorite heart-pumping songs are:

Incredible Machine by Sugarland
Sing a Song by Dave Matthews & Blue Man Group
Lookin For A Good Time by Lady Antebellum
Love Song by Sara Bareilles
Sparks Fly by Taylor Swift
Own the Night by Lady Antebellum
Bubble Toes by Jack Johnson
All I Want To Do by Sugarland

One of Oprah’s Favorite Things…Lululemon Relaxed Fit Pant

“I’ve got to tell you,” Oprah says, “anything that cuts your butt in half should be your favorite thing too!”

Oprah Winfrey

What mom out there doesn’t want that! (If you don’t you’ll still love them) I had to share this with you as I had just written my favorite maternity pants and then a girlfriend informed me that one of Oprah’s favorite things on her show last friday was the Lululemon Relaxed Fit Pant. That’s sooo awesome!

Besides the Still Pant I raved about yesterday I own a pair of these, wore them during my 2nd pregnancy & love them as well. Unlike the Still Pant they don’t have pockets in the front but the fit in my opinion is very similar. I just read that the newer Relaxed Fit Pants have a hidden pocket in the waist, love that! (mine are old enough they don’t, must mean it’s time to go shopping for a new pair!) If you get a chance to try them on try them both & make the decision for yourself. Either are great pants during pregnancy & after baby since they both have a drawstring in the waist.

Which ones are your favorite? Please do share :)

My Favorite Maternity Pants! | Lululemon Still Pant

I never was much for maternity clothes and for those of you who know me, know I LOVE  lululemon clothes! It’s just so hard for me to move past & try something new.lululemon athletica

Turning back the clock to my pregnant days, well not really that long ago cuz they are only 20 months & almost 4 yrs. but things change so fast and time must be going faster…

It was obvious that I just couldn’t keep wearing my current Lululemon pants, the groove pant but must move onto something that wouldn’t make me realize just how much I was really growing & expanding! Adding to that I also needed pants I could wear to work as a trainer and also wear out to dinner. Maternity stores just weren’t for me then, so lululemon it was.

Lululemon’s STILL PANT, turned out to by my favorite maternity pant. Very comfortable yet looked nice so I felt comfortable wearing them anywhere and could dress themup with a nicer shirt. Black was my color of choice. The Still Pant for your pregnancy is well worth every penny :)

I have to add more to the maternity pants topic about how there’s more options out there now. I checked out Xpecting Maternity Boutique the other day and was very impressed with new styles & functional jeans, specifically Paige Maternity Denim, they have adjustable elastic built-in to the waist band just like kids pants, Genius if you ask me!

I’ll be purchasing those if there’s every a baby #3 ;)

Whatever pants you buy during pregnancy be sure they are comfortable & you have room to grow & don’t forget about your hips. I hate to say it but those hips will expand, they have too, keep up your exercise during & after pregnancy & chances are in time they will return to normal.

Enjoy!
