Meet Carla! Our featured Instructor of the month!

Carla has worked in the health and fitness industry for the past 15 years and is located in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She has a degree in clinical nutrition, a diploma in Fitness & Lifestyle Management and is a certified life coach.

Carla has co-founded Alive Gimnasio Boutique and is also the co-founder and director of equilibrium, a specialized personal training studio that incorporates the Core Rehab and Prenatal/Postnatal Specialist course from Erica Ziel into their training programs. Carla has also collaborated with Mens Venilia International group to develop a fitness coaching certification which provides education in exercise science and coaching strategies for trainers.

Through her life experience and work, Carla has come to understand that the key to a healthy and happy life is the connection between mind, body and spirit which is the very message she hopes to pass on to her clients and students.

Q: Favorite workout and exercises to do when you are traveling and don’t have any equipment?

A: Core-Rehab-Yoga: I add the core rehab principals to my yoga practice which includes plank slides, pulsing squats and some mid-back work. I also love the core-rehab vinyasa (plank, up-dog, down-dog, standing twists)

Q: What is the #1 thing you learned from Erica’s Prenatal and Postnatal Exercise Specialist course?

A: Loved the scientific and updated information on fascia and the connection of deep core with the rest of the body as well as the postural tips and the info on neutral position for optimal deep core activation.

Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote?

A: I don’t have a favorite, but I love getting inspired by others–here is one I really love…

Q: Best pregnancy advice for all our pregnant mamas?

A: Listen to your body and be mindful with your exercise practice during this phase, and each phase to come.

Q: What advise would you give new Instructors who are beginning to build their own business?

A: Keep working on what you belive in and are passionate about. There will always be ostacles and setbacks, but as long as you are clear on your purpose and how you want to impacto your clients and the people arround you, things will find a way to work out. So don´t give up and listen to your gut!

Q: What is your healthy go-to snack?

A: Mixed fruit and nuts with a touch of honey
