6 Overlooked Early Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms

Nausea. Heightened sense of smell. A missed period. There are dozens of early pregnancy symptoms we are familiar with. Many of the traditional pregnancy indicators are not unique to pregnancy, and often present the week of a missed period or in the weeks following.

For many women, the time spent waiting for delayed menstruation (weeks after trying to conceive or when you think you may have become pregnant) can seem like a lifetime. Start your Knocked-Up Fitness and Wellness membership today to stay confident and feeling sexy as those pregnancy hormones set in!

Women who are in tune with their bodies might be in luck! Earlier than any pregnancy test on the market, your body could be showing several signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Here are 6 often over-looked pregnancy symptoms that could appear before a positive.

KUF_6earlysigns

1) Spotting

Was that my period? If it was a little light and a little early, you could be confusing early menstruation with implantation bleeding. Usually occurring between 6-12 days post conception, the embryo implants itself and can cause light spotting.

2) Fatigue and Tiredness

If you’re almost falling asleep at the dinner table, or sneaking to your car at work for ten minutes of shut eye, your body could be telling you baby is on board. In the 1st week after conception, progesterone levels rise, blood sugar can lower, and blood pressure can drop to provide greater blood flow to baby. That afternoon energy drop might be telling you something.

3) Dizziness

Along with feeling fatigued, you may experience dizziness or light-headedness, which can also begin to occur in the first week after conception. As blood vessels dilate and blood pressure drops you can be at risk for dizziness and even fainting, so be sure to take a seat and a drink of water if you’re not feeling yourself.

4) Shortness of Breath

When did the stairs to my office triple in height? Baby needs oxygen and blood to develop and grow, so even though a pregnancy test won’t tell you for sure, in the first few weeks after conception sharing your oxygen and blood with baby can cause shortness of breath. While not usually dangerous, this uncomfortable and sometimes exhausting pregnancy symptom can be reduced by maintaining an exercise routine and listening to your body (aim to get to work a few minutes early to slow down on the stairs and take a short break before beginning your day).

5) Swollen/Tender Breasts

Your hormones begin to shift as soon as conception occurs, and within 1-2 weeks of pregnancy, many symptoms can present. Some breast changes, including darkening or leaking, are more often associated with later pregnancy, but swollen and tender breasts can begin 1-2 weeks after conception. Often confused with tenderness associated with PMS, many women note that breast swelling as a pregnancy symptom is much more intense than PMS tenderness.

6) Food Aversions

If you find yourself nauseated by the thought of a meal you used to love, it might not be the flu or changing tastes. Although cravings get the bulk of the pregnancy cliche attention, food aversions can have a stronger effect on women. Food aversions can present within two weeks of conception, and are attributed to hormonal changes. Many experts agree that aversions to some foods are a biological response to pregnancy so women avoid foods that are dangerous to baby, including alcohol, and processed or spoiled foods. Strong food aversions, coupled with a heightened sense of smell can be a strong contributor to pregnancy-related nausea.

Kay get a life, its 2017 a man coming over you is not remotely degrading. Sperm is a part of sex … guess what its natural and normal, what is not natural is your attitude to a natural bodily function. Sex is fun and messy get over it! Neo Tee I am afraid it is just a waiting game, i hope you get the outcome you are looking for! x

Had sex 5 days ago and it lasted for 1-2 minutes. From yesterday I am feeling dizzy, headache and I don’t get to eat much or I would throw up. Does this means I am pregnant?

My pee has a weird smell and about a week ago I was starting to drip from my part and I looked it up and it some kinda of discharge but not sure if its was the fertile discharge or just it cleaning itself. I have been sluggish the last couple of days but it can be that I am just tired.
Anyone have anything similar to this?

I would go to the ob/gyn doctor immediately. Tell them your symptoms if your having odd changes down there it could be a sign of an std. For me when I was pregnant I only experienced spotting that was very light pink and it would only happen after sex. Other than that I feel we all know our “normal discharge” and the cycles it goes through with our bodies. If anything is out of the ordinary for you, tell your doctor. (:

Hi me n my husband of 7 years had sex and the next day I started bleeding 5 days before my period. The bleeding lasted 4 days. We are planning to have another baby. After the last day of my bleeding I felt a couple of pinching in my lower abdominal with no cramping. My lower abdominal felt heavier than usual and short of breath all the time. Had sex on Aug 2nd, bleeding started on the 3rd all the way till the 7th. Suppose to have my regular period on the 8th, but it’s not coming. What does this mean?

I don’t know sis! Honestly, something similar happened with me and my man. My silly self didn’t take my pill. I’m overly sleepy, nauseated, and moody one week after! I know it’s been a while. I’m assuming you are not pregnant. Pray for me though. My partner and I are currently at odds and he took my ring back.

I have irregular period, my last period was January 20th, I took ovulation tests and I was ovulating, on those days I had unprotected sex. I took blood work to check if I’m pregnant and it came back negative. Can it be that I took the test too early ?

Hello! I’ve been documenting my symptoms for the last 2 weeks. I am expecting my periods any day/min now (in fact it should’ve started yesterday).. First of all, I am on the pill and don’t remember missing any this month. It started with feeling bloated and shortness of breath, I also had sore leg muscles felt very tired and dizzy, I also had a higher than usual sex drive, last week I had 3 days of light spotting (I never have spotting!), a face rash on my jawline (I read it has to do to hormones), still feel a little dizzy on and off. Those symptoms are all unusual (except bloating). If I don’t get my period in the next 2-3 days, I will test. But did anyone else experience similar symptoms and were in fact pregnant?

I am having the same symptoms right now and my period is supposed to start today but it isn’t. the only difference is that I don’t have any spotting. Did your period start or did you test?

Hi! I had unprotected sex around March 29/30th and it’s now April 10th. I’ve been feeling really fatigued and dizzy for the past couple of weeks and I can’t seem to eat much of anything! (Besides Steak and Cheese w/BBQ from Subway or Pasta) Everything else disgusts me for the most part! I used to love chocolates and peanut butter, also bacon and eggs but now I can’t stomach the stuff! I’ve also felt a weird tingling sensation on the right side of my uterus (I think, its in the area where the uterus is) that happens on and off followed by light cramps (not very painful) My period usually comes around the end of the month (18-27th). I don’t have any breast pain or implantation bleeding.. But all these symptoms I have seem wayyy too suspicious. I also have been feeling irritable lately and have trouble controlling my emotions. If someone can give me there opinion, I would appreciate it!

So just to put this out there because everyone says to wait till you miss your period which is true in most cases but I hadn’t even missed my period I still had a week before I was even supposed to start and it popped up on a pregnancy test and some don’t show up, you can still have a “period” when your fist pregnant. So just if you think it’s possible take one.
